What is Interlace?

Experimental music video is the main focus of Interlace Video. Whether filming small indie shows or creating images to compliment beautiful melodies, Interlace is interested in tapping into the explosion of interesting music being created.  While the main focus is working with independent and experimental labels like Asthmatic Kitty, there is no genre that is excluded or privileged.  Pursuing any type of music allows Interlace Video to expand their field of collaboration with artists and friends.

History

Interlace Video collective brings together three friends and artists who share a love of the infinite combinations of image and sound.  Occupying three points on the United States map known for warm weather (California, Georgia, and Florida), Kenny Jensen, Jym Davis, and William Haun first worked together in the performance art group, The Primary Colors.  The trio of painted troubadours toured Chicago, Florida, and everywhere in between during the late 90’s.  The group’s first experiments with video and music came out of the Primary days.

Interlace Video represents a reconnection.  In the post Primary Colors life, the artists followed divergent paths.  Kenny went the route of Gallery coordinator and working artist, Jym pursued Graduate School and became a College art professor, and William became an innovator and teacher as a professional web designer.  Throughout the life changes, the boys were able to keep a collaborative (if far-reaching) spirit:  Kenny and Jym created a title sequence for a horror movie (later released by Lion’s Gate Film) using discarded slide film and an outdated carousel projector in a derelict Atlanta hotel room.  William and Kenny also worked with Jym on his Graduate M.F.A. exhibit and video installation.
